Western Australia Membership Drive

APGRA kicked off their membership drive in the West with last month, with a small event hosted by local government and corporate affairs firm GRA Partners. The appointment of GRA Partner’s Amanda Reid to the APGRA Members Committee, will ensure there is a focus on Western Australia and that local GR advisers are represented and engaged. Taking advantage of GRACosway CEO and Founding Partner Les Timar being in town, a handful of WA in-house government relations advisers heard first-hand about the work of APGRA over the last couple years. Les spoke about the changing regulatory environment for GR at both a Federal level and across the multiple jurisdictions.

There was good discussion about the impact of the Government’s Foreign Influence and Transparency Scheme and the work that had been undertaken by APGRA with the Attorney General and his Department to provide greater clarity and understanding of the impacts on businesses.

With representatives from companies including Woodside, Newmont Mining and BHP there was on overview provided on the regulatory changes in other States and what impact they might have on Western Australia.

APGRA is keen to grow WA membership and will embark on a series of local events over 2019.
